Epistaxis (Nosebleeds)
Bleeding from the nose is a common medical problem. Trauma, facial fractures, sinusitis, allergies and nasal sprays are some common causes of epistaxis. Most nosebleeds may be easily controlled with pressure, cauterization or packing. Infrequently, epistaxis may caused by tumors, medication toxicity, liver failure or blood disorders. Most tumors may be biopsied and/or removed endoscopically through the nose. Occasionally, nose bleeds may be severe and/or persistent which do not respond to conservative treatments. Minimally invasive endoscopic techniques stop bleeding from different blood vessels in the nose without the discomfort of nasal packing, and avoid the serious risks of embolization.
