Endoscopic Sphenopalatine Ligation
Nosebleeds are a common medical problem. Most of the time these are self limited and resolve on their own. If they require medical attention, they can be controlled with simple packing or cauterization. Occasionally, for severe nosebleeds, bleeding may occur from the sphenopalatine artery, a blood vessel at the back of the nose which provides blood supply to a large part of the nose. Surgeons can stop this bleeding by using the endoscope, a long lighted rod as well as endoscopic surgical instrumentation through the patient's nose. The patient typically experiences minimal discomfort and may often return home the same day.
